Archbishop supports new Churches Mutual Credit Union
11 Jul 13
The Archbishop of Canterbury helped launch a new credit union for clergy and church staff, as part of efforts to boost credit unions in all communities.
Archbishop Justin, who has previously praised credit unions, helped promote the Churches Mutual Credit Union Study Group at a fringe event at General Synod on Sunday. The credit union hopes to apply for authorisation this Autumn and launch services later next year. The Archbishop signed as the first of the 21 names on the application form to the Prudential Regulation Authority.
The event, jointly hosted by Church of England's Mission and Public Affairs Council and the Church of Scotland, was focused on how churches can help boost credit unions for all communities.
