A Dudley town centre church has become the tenth corporate member of Castle & Crystal Credit Union.
Parish treasurer, Jon Harcourt, opened an account for the Church of Saint Edmund, King and Martyr in Castle Street this week.
This will be the tenth corporate account to be opened at Castle & Crystal Credit Union. The Church of England has expressed its strong support for credit unions as alternative ethical and affordable providers of financial services.
Councillor Stuart Turner, Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council’s cabinet member for finance, said: “We are open for any business to join Dudley’s credit union and we’re delighted to welcome the Church of St Edmund as a new member.
“Credit unions are community based and provide a vital role in the economic development and stability of those communities they serve.”
Jon Harcourt, Parish treasurer said: “For hundreds of years the congregation has played a part in the proud history of Dudley and by opening an account with Castle & Crystal we are following in the tradition of being with, and supporting, the community.”
Castle & Crystal Credit Union was established in 1993 and serves anyone who lives or works in the borough of Dudley, the county of Worcestershire, or works for various partner organisations.
