East Midlands Forum learning together
26 Feb 16
ABCUL’s East Midlands Forum has held its first ever conference.
The event, held on 19 and 20 February at the University of Leicester’s College Court Conference Centre, attracted more than 50 delegates from across the region.
The two-day event gave staff, directors, supervisors and volunteers the opportunity to attend a series of workshops on some of the key issues for credit unions. Topics covered in the sessions were lending, customer service, the review of credit union regulation, accounting, governance and strategic planning, and each workshop was led by an expert on the subject.
Alongside the policy and operational workshops, ten new and potential directors for credit unions in the region attended an Introduction for credit union directors training course.
East Midlands Forum Chair Clive Rix said: “It was great to bring credit union personnel from across the East Midlands together for this conference. As well as the workshops and training sessions, the event was an invaluable opportunity to network and share experiences with fellow credit union practitioners.
“ABCUL’s Forums add real value for credit unions in each region of the country, and we’re looking forward to running more similar events in future to help the East Midlands’ credit unions learn and develop together.”
ABCUL Forums are organised across the regions and nations of Britain. Each Forum is run by volunteer Forum Officers elected from the credit unions in that area, with support from the Association’s staff team. The learning and networking opportunities they afford are an exclusive benefit of ABCUL membership.
