Castle & Crystal Credit Union is celebrating its continued growth with its 10,000th member signing up.
Founded in 1993, the Dudley-based credit union has grown over the years and established itself as an ethical business its members can rely on.
The achievement of serving its 10,000th member was marked with a special presentation by the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Steve Waltho.
Cllr Rachel Harris, cabinet member for health & wellbeing, also welcomed the landmark, saying: “I am delighted to see the service continues to expand the number of local people and businesses it serves.
“Members at Castle & Crystal will benefit from affordable loans and secure savings. It is also possible for some people to have an automated payroll deduction taken directly from their salary each time they are paid to provide completely hassle-free saving.
“I would strongly recommend anyone who has not yet opened an account with the credit union to do so.”
Castle & Crystal offers its members a range of savings accounts including holiday and Christmas accounts to help budget for a special occasion, and which can be managed through the convenience of online and telephone banking.
The credit union also offers a wide range of affordable loan products, and in the three months running up to Christmas last year, it issued £348,000-worth of loans.
Castle & Crystal also offers corporate accounts for local associations, charities and community groups.
Originally founded as the credit union for employees of Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, Castle and Crystal now serves anyone who lives or work in the borough of Dudley or the county of Worcestershire, as well as the tenants and employees of a range of housing associations and organisations.
