Plan ahead for Christmas!

10 Jun 16

NEFirst Credit Union is working with social landlords to help residents plan for Christmas.

The credit union is working in partnership with Dale & Valley Homes, Durham City Homes and East Durham Homes (as part of County Durham Housing Group) to help their residents start saving for what is often an expensive time of year.

The Christmas Savings Incentive Scheme not only encourages people to start planning, saving and budgeting for Christmas, but also has the added incentive of entry to a free prize draw for savers.

Tenants of the partner landlords who join the credit union by 1 August and save at least £20 in their account by the end of November will be entered into a draw for three prizes of £100.

NEFirst Manager Sid Rooke said: “At NEFirst, we encourage our members to save regularly to ensure they can make better use of their money; particularly during December which is always an expensive time of year.

“While people can open a savings account with us at any time, by signing up before August you could be in with a chance of one of three cash prizes depending on where you live.

“And don’t worry if you are an existing NEFirst member, you can still open a new account for this particular scheme.”

NEFirst Credit Union serves anyone who lives or works in County Durham, Tyne and Wear or Northumberland and operates from offices in Gateshead, Durham, Birtley and North Shields. The credit union was formed from the merger of smaller credit unions in the North East of England which have been providing savings and loans for local people for more than 20 years.
