Bookings open for Scotland Conference
07 Oct 16
Bookings are now open for Scotland’s Credit Union Conference 2016.
Organised by ABCUL and sponsored by CUNA Mutual Group, this year’s conference will be held on Friday 9 December at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow.
The theme of the conference is Making Scotland a Credit Union Nation, as we seek to build on the success of ABCUL's campaign to win cross-party political support for the ABCUL Credit Union Charter in the 2016 election manifestos by exploring how that broad support can be turned into practical action.
The conference will hear a Ministerial address from the Cabinet Secretary for Communities, Social Security and Equalities Angela Constance MSP (pictured), and other conference sessions will consider how we make the case for credit union partnerships to employers and how we attract the next generation of credit union members, as well as a series of workshops where delegates can discuss the key issues. The full conference programme will be published shortly.
The conference will be facilitated by the writer and broadcaster Fergus Muirhead, who is a well known advocate of improving financial health and encouraging credit union growth through his contributions to the Daily Record, BBC Radio Scotland and his own Moneysucks website.
Since it was first held in 2011, Scotland's Credit Union Conference has become a fixture in the annual credit union calendar and is firmly established as the place for credit unions, politicians, local and national government and a range of stakeholders including the financial, housing and advice sectors to come together to discuss the future growth and development of Scotland's credit unions.
Delegate fees have been frozen at the same level as last year: £90 for a credit union delegate, £130 for public sector and other third sector delegates, and £160 for private sector delegates.
And ABCUL member credit unions affiliated to the ABCUL Scotland Forum can take advantage of one free* delegate place each! (*reimbursed following attendance at the conference.)
Scotland’s Credit Union Conference promises to once more be an unmissable event for Scottish credit unions, their supporters and stakeholders, and delegate places can be booked today here.
