Pioneer Mutual up for award

12 May 17

Pioneer Mutual Credit Union is a finalist in the East Renfrewshire Business Awards 2017.

From a large number of entries, the credit union has been shortlisted in the Community Impact category, and the winners of all 8 categories will be announced at an awards dinner on Thursday 8 June.

The awards are organised by East Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Taylor Wimpey, and the ceremony at the Busby Hotel will be hosted by the actor, singer and comedienne Karen Dunbar.

Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland Audrey Ross said: "The finalists announced today have impressed the panel of judges to make the shortlist strong and are in themselves an incredible showcase for their drive, spirit and commitment to the local area. I wish them every success in the final stages of these prestigious awards."

Established in 1993 as East Renfrewshire Credit Union, it rebranded as Pioneer Mutual last year and expanded its common bond to serve anyone who lives or works in a G, PA or ML postcode – extending the credit union’s potential membership well beyond East Renfrewshire to also serve people across Renfrewshire, Glasgow, Dunbartonshire and Lanarkshire.

The credit union has gone from strength to strength, establishing itself as a vital service for more than 3,500 members in the local community.

Pioneer Mutual’s Business Development Manager Beth Welsh said: “We are thrilled to be a finalist in the East Renfrewshire Business Awards Community Impact category. It is a great recognition of the important role credit unions play within communities and the vital financial services we provide.”
