Looking forward to World Conference

British delegates are looking forward to next month’s 2017 World Credit Union Conference, which is being held in Vienna.
The premier annual international credit union education and networking event is organised by the World Council of Credit Unions, and returns to Europe for the second year in a row following last summer’s highly successful conference in Belfast.
This is the first time the World Conference has ever been held in Austria, and around 1,800 delegates from 55 different countries are expected to attend the event, which runs from 23-26 July.
Alongside the programme of plenary sessions and workshops featuring high profile speakers and key figures from the global credit union movement, female delegates will have the chance to attend the Global Women’s Leadership Network, and delegates aged 35 and under can take part in the World Council Young Credit Union People (WYCUP) programme.
Other optional activities delegates can register for include a visit to Volksbank Wien, a very special river boat cruise on the Danube, and a series of day trips including a city tour, a Viennese waltz lesson and wine tasting.
ABCUL Chief Executive Mark Lyonette said: “ABCUL is proud to be the British member of the World Council of Credit Unions, and the World Conference is a tremendous opportunity for credit union staff, directors and volunteers to share experiences and learn from credit union professionals from a range of countries.
“Last year’s gathering in Belfast saw the highest ever number of British delegates to a World Credit Union Conference, and it’s great to see so many of our members will once more be taking advantage of this unique opportunity to engage with the global credit union movement in Vienna.”
There’s still time to book a place at the conference, and as the only British member of the World Council, ABCUL member credit unions are eligible for a very significant saving of US$500 by booking at the World Council member rate.
