Nicola Sturgeon notes she is a massive supporter of credit unions

The comment was prompted by a question from Pauline McNeill MSP, who was keen to know what actions the Scottish Government would be taking to assist families faced with financial hardship following the interest rate rise.
In response, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon noted that "There is a big area of consensus here. I agree with the thrust of Pauline McNeill’s question. I am a massive supporter of the credit union movement; it does fantastic work and this Government has supported it and will continue to do so. We will look at what more we can do for it."
The First Minister's comments following commitments made in the Scottish Goverment's Programme for Government, to continue to back credit unions, including through an awareness raising campaign.
ABCUL has arranged a meeting of the Cross Party Group on Credit Unions on 5 December, where we will be joined by officials from the Scottish Government, to discuss how we can best work with the Scottish Government on these plans.
