Llynfi Valley Credit Union joins ABCUL

We are pleased to announce Llynfi Valley Credit Union has joined the association. The credit union will be welcomed into the Cymru forum.
The Credit Union have 5 part time staff that is responsible for the ongoing development and administration of the Credit Union. In addition they have 20 volunteers working over two offices.
Credit Union Director, John Hughes spoke about Llynfi Valley joining the association, “It’s a pleasure to join ABCUL and to be welcomed by the Cymru Forum. We have worked hard to build a successful Credit Union that currently has 2000 members, both adult and juniors who have saved together over £1 million.
“Becoming a member of ABCUL was driven by the accessible training of the ABCUL Academy and expert guidance of a dedicated Relationship Manager.”
Recently Ogmore Assembly Member Huw Irranca-Davies met staff and volunteers of the Llynfi Valley Credit Union to mark International Credit Union Day on October 19. As a long-standing credit union member, the Welsh AM said: “All of my family are members of a credit union and I thoroughly recommend them as a way to responsible money management. They are a great example of communities working together and the majority of the staff are volunteers.”
After hearing about the progress of the Llynfi Valley Credit Union, Huw added: “It is encouraging to hear about the additional services the credit union is now offering.
“With a heavy focus on education and information, their ‘into schools’ projects are having an impact and helping students from a young age become better prepared to make important financial choices.”
