In the past few years Northamptonshire Credit Union has undergone some significant changes, not least expanding the area they serve to include not only Northamptonshire but also parts of Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Oxfordshire.
In celebration of the 20th anniversary and in recognition of the expanded area, the credit union has taken on a new name and logo. A celebratory event took place at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club welcoming friends and partners of the credit union.
James Richards, General Manager says - “We hope that the new identity will give people a clearer understanding of the fact we are about more than just borrowing and that we aim to provide services that help members to build their financial well-being in its broadest sense.
"This is an exciting time in the life of our credit union. We have built a strong business in our first 20 years, with more than 7,000 people having used our services. We estimate that in the last five years alone we have saved our members more than £1.4 million in interest payments by providing loans at fair rates. Many of the people we have helped are among the most financially excluded in our communities, who often face punitive loan rates and charges for using the financial services many of us take for granted.
"We now have just over £2 million on deposit and a loan book in excess of £1.1 million. We believe that the launch of a new brand will help us to promote our services even more effectively in all of the areas that we now cover, and to reach a broader range of members who are looking for an alternative to mainstream financial providers.”
