Hull & East Yorkshire Credit Union sees 31% lending growth in 2017

The meeting included a short talk by Aidene Walsh of the Fairbanking Foundation, which awarded HEYCU a 5-star Fairbanking Mark for its responsible approach to lending in the summer.
HEYCU compounded this success with impressive growth, hitting 12,000 members and increasing their lending by 31%. While members’ savings deposits grew by 6% to top the £10m million mark for the first time. Deposits made by the Credit Union’s junior savers, including those made at school banks, rose by 8% to £430,000.
John Smith, HEYCU's Chief Executive, commented: "This was our 18th anniversary year and we are pleased that we have been able to help more people than ever across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire to manage their money well and afford their lives.”
To mark the 18th anniversary, HEYCU hosted a visit by members of the PenFed Credit Union of Georgia, USA, one of the largest credit unions in the world. They were thrilled to come to Hull during City of Culture year and enjoyed meeting the credit union’s staff and volunteers.
