Any child born on or after 1 September 2002, living in the UK and registered for Child Benefit, receives a Child Trust Fund (CTF) voucher from HM Revenue & Customs for at least £250. Further payments are made when the child reaches 7 and relatives and friends can make contributions up to certain limits during the lifetime of the account. There are three main types of Child Trust Fund (CTF) accounts: savings accounts, accounts that invest in shares and stakeholder accounts.
Credit unions are able to offer Child Trust Fund accounts that are savings accounts and do not invest in shares.
The following credit unions offer cash Child Trust Fund accounts where you can open an account using your child’s CTF voucher and make contributions during the life of the account.
